9th Grade Scheduling Presentation

8th Grade Scheduling Information Night was held on Wednesday, January 8th, at 6:30 p.m. in the WHS Auditorium.

9th Grade Elective Course Selection

All scheduling is completed online through PowerSchool.  Students will need to enter their elective choices in PowerSchool by January 20, 2020.

Student Meetings & Final Schedules

Mrs. Brown, Mr. Spinner, and Mrs. Yoder will meet individually with all 8th graders to review their elective selections after January 20 and throughout the month of February.  English, math and science placements will be determined by the respective departments at WHS based on a rubric of grades and standardized test scores.

Schedules will be distributed in late April for students and parents' final review.  If students or parents wish to make any course changes, a Schedule Change Form must be submitted to either the WHS or WMS Counseling Centers in May.

Registration for Summer School courses through Indiana Online is now open!

Westfield High School partners with Indiana Online (IO) for Summer School.  Registration for IO Summer School courses will be open from April 6—June 5, 2020 at indianaonline.org.

Summer is a great time for students to take courses. Students can take up to two credits during the summer, and there is no cost to you.

HERE you will find more detailed information regarding this process, including dates of the summer session, guidelines for summer classes, and a list of courses that are offered through IO this summer.

When registering for classes, 8th Grade students should:

  • Select Westfield High School, and register as Grade 9.

  • Enter their Westfield School ID number correctly.  This must be done so the grade and credit can be correctly uploaded to PowerSchool.

  • Select the name of their WHS counselor. Upon registration, the counselor will then be able to electronically approve the student’s registration. As counselors have to manually approve registrations, please allow a few days for this to occur.

  • If a student does not complete or pass a required class this summer, the student should contact the counselor by email in order to get that class placed back into their schedule for 2020-2021.

  • Likewise, if a student completes a course over the summer, and the course is still in their 2020-2021 school year schedule, the student should email their counselor and ask that the course be removed from the schedule.

Additional Information for 8th Grade Students to Consider:

  • Many 8th grade students plan to take either PE I and/or Health over the summer.  Please remember that these are two separate and distinct classes. If your child does not have these courses in their course requests for next year, they should plan on taking these courses over the summer.

  • Likewise, if your child has “Elective PE: Strength & Conditioning Freshman Athlete 1” in their course requests, they must take PE I over the summer, as PE I is a prerequisite for this course.

  • Freshmen schedules will be distributed at the end of April.  Changes can be made through the end of the school year.

After reviewing the information, if you have any additional questions, please contact your child's counselor directly.

Best wishes,
