College and Career Readiness

"The level of preparation a student needs in order to enroll and succeed—without remediation—in a credit bearing course at a postsecondary institution that offers a baccalaureate degree or transfer to a baccalaureate program, or in a high‐quality certificate program that enables students to enter a career pathway with potential future advancement"

We want all students to be WORK READY, JOB READY, CAREER READY, AND COLLEGE READY

Our resource to deliver college and career readiness curriculum is Family Connections in Naviance.  It is used exclusively in our Exploring Colleges and Careers class.  Mrs. Carnes teaches Exploring Colleges and Careers 7 (for 7th graders) and Mr. Payne teaches Exploring Colleges and Careers 8 (for 8th graders).

Watch this video to learn what this entails:

All WMS students will work in Naviance during middle school.  Parents also have a separate log in and can be a collaborative partner with their child to explore all that Naviance has to offer.

The following are some of the great feautres Naviance has to offer.  Feel free to explore!

Strengths Explorer

Students will identify their three strongest emerging talents, receive explanations of these themes, strategies for capitalizing on each, and action items to help them gain insight into their greatest talents to leverage in the classroom and in life.  To find out more click here.

Goal Setting

Students establish short and long term goals and can track their progress throughout the year.  Each student can create their own Individual Learning Plan that follows them through middle and into high school. Parents can log in and support their child's progress.  To learn more about how this works, click here.
